Include Specific Application Audio in OBS
These steps are valid for setting the audio from only the applications that you choose to output to your OBS stream. To include specific audio sources, you need to have a separate audio output device to stream, which you will set your default audio device to listen to so that you can hear the streamed audio and your “hidden” audio at the same time.
Part 1: VB-Audio Cable
- Download and install the VB-Cable Virtual Audio Device (you will need to restart your computer)
- Open up your Control Panel’s audio settings (Press
Win + R, typecontrol, hitenter, click on Hardware and Sound -> Sound) - Go to Recording -> Cable Output -> Properties -> Listen and enable Listen to this device
- Under Playback through this device, specifically select the device your main listening device
- Apply the changes, you are done with the Control Panel sound settings
Part 2: OBS Settings
- Open up whatever version of OBS you are using
- Under the Control pane at the bottom right corner, go to Settings -> Audio -> Global Audio Devices
- Set Desktop Audio to CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)
- Apply the changes and you are done in OBS
Part 3: Sound Mixer Options
- Press your Windows key, search for Sound Mixer Options, and open the first result
- Next to each audio source that you want to include in your stream output, change the Output drop-down to CABLE Input
I have to help fskt do this every other day so DM me on Telegram if you have trouble with it.
